Links for Parents (and new fencers)

This page presents a list of links to useful information for parents, new fencers, and people who are curious about either the sport, or our club. It is still very much a work in progress, so if there's anything not here that you'd like to see, please just let us know!

Appropriate behaviour for parents

We have many wonderful parents at the club, and are fortunate not to have witnessed the behaviour portrayed on this video. However, please take a moment to watch it. If you have questions about how to get appropriately involved in your child's sporting career, please talk to one of the coaches or staff - we are always in need of parent volunteers and encourage you to be generous with your time.

There is a wealth of information to be found on our website, but we've tried to keep the list of links on this page short. Please feel free to explore the rest of the site, and to follow the links.

You're also very welcome to talk to any of our fencers, parents or coaches at the club if you have questions!

Travel without both parents present

If your children will be travelling with only one parent (or with another guardian), you require a notarised letter. You can find a template for such a letter here. This page contains many useful links.

You may also wish to provide a letter which allows others to make medical decisions on your behalf should you not be reachable. Here is an example of such a letter. Deciding who you trust to make medical decisions for your child is something that shouldn't be rushed, so we strongly recommend that you discuss your options and make a decision about this well before you travel.
