Westdale Fencing Club is offering an “Introduction to Fencing” program that will run for 8 weeks from September 4th until October 30th (note that there is no class on October 9th). Classes will take place between 7:30 – 9:00pm on Thursday nights. This program (for individuals aged 12 years and older) offers an introduction to fencing for those who are new to the sport, and an opportunity for more experienced fencers to revisit some of the basic techniques.
Participants will receive instruction from an NCCP trained instructor in small group classes which maintain a high instructor/student ratio (typically around 1 instructor for every 6 students). Westdale Fencing Club will also provide the necessary fencing equipment that is required for the duration of the program - all you need to bring is appropriate clothing (including long trousers) and a water bottle.
On successful completion of the introductory program at the end of October, you will have the opportunity to build on the skills you have learned for the remainder of the term in our ‘recreational program’. This program runs on Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 8:00. In addition to providing you with opportunities for further instruction, participating in our ‘recreational program’ will offer you a chance to get a better look at our club, and to see whether you are interested in continuing to fence with us.
The introductory program cost is $207, and includes 12 hours of instruction, as well as all necessary equipment. Please note that refunds are not offered for missed classes, nor are we able to offer make-up classes.
If you wish to continue in the recreational program, dues are $55 per month. You will also need to purchase a club membership.
