| Brenda Brownlee Sabre |
Brenda is a 58 year old woman who took up fencing relatively late, at age 33, and enjoys it as a recreational activity. Professionally she is a museologist with special interest in the daily life of the nineteenth century soldier. She holds an Hons BA from Trent University and a Masters Degree from the University of Toronto. Her last position was as Curator of the Hamilton Military Museum.

Having just finished elementary school and entering high school, Michael's fencing is a large part of his lifestyle. He plans to continue fencing throughout high school and into university where he hopes to take up studies in the field of criminology.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Meredith is the most recent addition to the WFC team. A member of the national squad, Meredith is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Physical Education at the University of Alberta.

Having just completed high school, Grace is currently enjoying a few months away from full time study before heading off to university next year. Grace is a provincially carded junior.

Kristin has been fencing for almost five years. She is 18 years old and is a Freshman at Yale, but she still comes back to visit when time permits. She fences all three weapons, but epée is by far her favorite. For now!

Duane Saetveit has been fencing for about five years. He started with his daughter Kristin. At 56, he is older than many of the other fencers at the club, but he has not found that to be a problem. He loves the mental and physical challenge of the sport. When not fencing, Duane plays french horn in the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Donna is a long-standing member of the Canadian National Team, and was the first ever World Champion in Women's Sabre. A resident of Port Hope, and a provincially carded athlete, Donna works as an Environmental Consultant by day, and also works in her spare time as a Personal Trainer. | Robert Smith Sabre |
It all started nine years ago in a small village in Maine where Rob found himself an indentured servant of the Down East School of Fencing. After a few years of fencing instruction, Rob felt it was time to run away with a traveling freak show. This career path was short lived once they realized Rob likeed to play with swords rather than eat them. Rob was promptly deposited in Buffalo where, after much wandering about, he discovered Westdale Fencing Club (a.k.a. Ranil’s Church of Pain).
